WWF removes Vietnamese Pangasius from the red – list
TTO – December 15, WWF agreed to remove Vietnamese Pangasius from red – list in the consumer guideline and suggested consumers use this products.
“WWF will suggest consumers use Vietnamese Pangasius”, Mr. Mark Powelll, the global fisheries facilitator of f WWF stated in the press submit after his meeting with the Directorate of Fisheries in the morning of 15th of December in Ha Noi.
Because WWF put Vietnamese Pangasius into red list in consumer guideline in some European countries, Vietnam would invite Mr. Mark Powell to Ha Noi to discuss directly. Moreover, this is also an opportunity for WWF to understand more about the production of Pangasius in Viet Nam.
The meeting between the delegators from WWF, leading by Mr. Powell with VASEP, Directorate of Fisheries, etc in morning, 15th of December was considered “straight” by Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, the Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Fisheries.
Mr Powell said “I’m very happy because we have a nice discussion with the Viet Nam Government and departments related to Pangasius production of Viet Nam. We are nice to agree that this industry will have a bright future.”
Tomorrow, 16th of December, representatives from WWF will work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to discuss about the further and sustainable cooperation in Pangasius production in specific and in seafood industry in general.
The field trip to Can Tho regarding to the invitation from Vietnam is not be done in this occasion but WWF said that they wanted to come back Viet Nam soon to understand Pangasius farming area directly.
